I posses a BA in Computer Science from the University of North
Texas, and have been working in the computer industry in the Dallas
Area for
major corporations as both a development and maintenance programmer,
on both large and small projects.
One of my strengths has been the
ability to work with end users to discover the problems they are
having with computer systems, and then devise a technical solution
to solve those problems. Also, I have often been called upon to
communicate with outside vendors to transmit data and install
software packages.
Not only am I proficient in mainframe COBOL/CICS/DB2
type applications, but I am also very comfortable with the Microsoft
Windows Platform, including Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0. I am
expert at using MS Office 2000 products such as MS-WORD, MS-EXCEL
and MS-ACCESS to create documentation and reports, and often work
with end users to create SQL queries to produce specific data
selections from their databases for reports.
In addition to my COBOL
programming skills, I am trained in Java 2.0 and Visual Basic 6.0,
and am currently pursuing MSP Certification in Visual Basic 6.0.
I have developed HTML web pages and applications using MS
Access.
I was editor of a national newsletter for a non-profit
organization for 11 years, demonstrating skills in written
communication as well as layout, design, and editing. As a result of
training during my service in the USAF, I am fluent in Mandarin
Chinese, and have a working knowledge of French, German and Spanish.
