My niece, Brittney Flaspoehler, was married to Adam Jacox in the
Mormon Temple in Bountiful, Utah, on Saturday
afternoon, July 7, 2007. The date, 7/7/07, was considered a lucky
day for weddings. Brittney is the only daughter of my brother, Bob
Flaspoehler. Brittney's mother is Carol Flaspoehler.
The wedding was beautiful, and Adam and Brittney seem
very much in love. He is a nice quiet boy and she is an
ex-cheerleader so, in my opinion, they are a good match for each other: she brings
out his fun side, and he helps keep her grounded.

On Saturday afternoon, I drove to the Bountiful Temple for
the wedding at 4:30. Bountiful is a medium sized town about
10 miles north of the Salt Lake City. The temple building is
quite beautiful. |

SON OF BRAD AND ALYSON JACOX ON SATURDAY,
JULY 7, 2007, IN THE BOUNTIFUL, UTAH, TEMPLE.
THE PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY IS REQUESTED AT
A RECEPTION FROM 7:30 TO 9:30 THAT EVENING, SOUTH JORDAN,
UTAH. |

Afterwards, on the grounds, they took lots of the
"traditional" wedding pictures. The bride and groom
change into temple garments for the actual wedding, and then
change back to wedding gown and tux for the pictures.
Brittney's dress was quite pretty, and Adam wore a formal suit
rather than a tux. |

 |
About 200 people showed up for the reception, a big number
by any standard. And they stayed late. We had chicken salad
sandwiches and cheese cake for refreshments. |

|
I was surprised to see Adam and Brittney show
up at Carol's house on Sunday afternoon. They were batting
around, waiting to leave for their Honeymoon trip on Monday.
This gave me a chance for a few cute photos. |
 |
On Sunday, Carol and I joined Diane and Jeff for visit to
the Mormon Tabernacle to hear the choir. But they were on
tour, so we watched in on TV! |
 |
Naturally, while I was in Salt Lake City, I had time to
visit with my brother Bob. I took him out to lunch twice, and
once for ice cream. He is doing very well, but needs more
interaction with people. |
I met Adam's family, and they are quite nice. They are named Brad
and Alyson Jacox, and have 5 or 6 kids. Adam is the second oldest.
(Sorry I can't remember all those names!)
Adam's dad works for the LDS church in an administrative position
and is stationed in Sao Paolo, Brazil, with his wife and family. Adam
did his mission with the Chinese community in Montreal, Canada, and
his brother spend him mission in France. The
whole Jacox family is quite international!
Adam's father, Brad Jacox, works in
Brazil overseeing building projects for the Mormon Church. Alyson
and Brad flew up
from Sao Paolo for Adam's wedding. Their daughter, Adam's sister, is getting
married the next week in the Salt Lake Temple, as soon as Adam and Brittney
get back from their Honeymoon trip to Cancun. Mom and Dad did
not want to fly up twice, which is why the two events are so close
together.
Carol, my sister in law, was a good hostess, and
both she and Brittney seemed pleased that I had taken the effort to
come in for the wedding. It was a lovely wedding, and provided a
great opportunity, as well, for me to visit my brother Bob in the Nursing
Home. It was very much worth the trip, as far as I am concerned.
