A Road Trip to New MexicoAugust 12-17, 2001In and Around Santa Fe(Click on Image for Enlarged View) Santa Fe is one of the god's chosen places on earth. It's magic is ephemeral but real, and the hospitality of its people is generous. My room at El Rey Inn was quiet, comfortable, and of the proper ambience. Strolling around the square and driving around the city yields a charming variety of visual images. I had never been to Bishop's Lodge, one of the most expensive hotels in the area, so I decided to drive on out. I even made reservations for dinner that night, and enjoyed a pleasant evening with my Dallas friend Herbert Massey dining on the terrace before the opera. It was not really that expensive. A drive up to the ski area on the Sangre de Christos Mountains east of town was fun, and also an area I had not visited before. HomeUnless otherwise indicated: |
