The Best Western in Hereford, TX. The Senior Rate was only $45.00!

I decided that, since I was "between jobs," I would take some time for myself to clear my mind, and drive to Santa Fe for the opera. So, during the week of August 12-17, 2001, I rented a Ford Ranger XLT pick-em-up truck from Budget in Dallas, and  headed west. My goal was to do the back roads and avoid the Interstate highways whenever possible. Hwy 114 from Dallas connects with US 82 at Jacksboro, and leads west to Lubbock. It's a 5 hour drive. I ended up spending the night in Hereford, TX, because the room rate was cheaper than Amarillo or Lubbock! The room was very nice and the continental breakfast way above average.
